Demands acceptance rules

Projects, created not earlier 2009, which showed effectiveness in 2010-2011 (except campaigns, which took part in the last year competition), are accepted for the Effie Awards Ukraine 2011 tender.

Campaigns, which are developed by several agencies (advertising, media companies etc.), can move on consideration only once, but all agencies participating in working out can be specified.

Please pay attention!  Awarded points are calculated not only for main agency, but also to other agencies which are involved in a campaign and are indicated in the entry form. Agencies - contractors may be no more than 5 (including main agency and client). All agencies get equal points in effectiveness rating, but original of award will receive only applicant. 

For participation in competition it is necessary to fill the form the Demand in three languages and to transfer in Organizing committee in a firm copy, and also on the electronic carrier. In the Demand joins from 1 to 6 examples of creative materials: Internet, Outdoor advertising, Print advertising, Radio advertising, Television advertising.

Participants are recommended to detail each of Demand elements as judges will estimate all components. On October, 21th, 2011 the demands acceptance termination on participation.

Algorithm of actions of the participant:

1. To familiarize with participation rules.

2. To define quantity of submitted works.

3. To be registered for participants on-line.

4. To receive and settle an account for participation.

5. To submit to organizing committee the filled brief, creative materials and the public summary.

Requirements for entry form:

Please keep in mind that the entry form consists of:

  • Application for participation (p.1-7)
  • Publishing Permission (additional to the entry#1)
  • Campaign Summary and Credits (additional to the entry#2)
  • Application checklist (additional to the entry#3) Entry form should be filled in e-form by Times New Roman font, 10 points. Front Color should be black. The application should consist of 7 pages.
The entry form is submitted in 20 copies in Russian, 3 copies in Ukrainian and 3copies in English (pages 1-7), and e-file (all pages, three languages) on CD or DVD. Also participants should submit additional forms and creative materials. Please pay attention to the rules and read carefully about disqualification reasons!

Specifications for creative materials

All creative materials and the public summary submitted to a campaign on a single carrier, together with the Application (CD or DVD drive). On the drive the name of the campaign, participant a list of creative materials, which contains a disk.

Creative work can be presented in two forms (user himself determines the format of presentation):

- In the form of a series of individual images (file format *. JPG, with a resolution of 72 dpi, RGB,
side horizontally not more than 1200 pixels *) as well as video (DV-avi, 720x576, 25fps, pal) and audio (MP3, 48 kHz, 192 kbps). 6 files maximum.

- Or video-presentation of MPEG-2. frame size - 720 x 576, the data stream (br) - not below 8 Mbps. Duration - up to 4 minutes. This video presentation should contain all the key elements that best explains the campaign. The presentation may be included creative solutions for TV, press, radio, outdoor advertising, Internet, direct mail, etc.

Creative materials should be submitted or Russian / Ukrainian and English or only English. In addition, the disk must contain the image (format JPEG, 300 dpi, CMYK) which reflects the most presentable expressed at the contest campaign. This presentation, the image will be used in international archives Effie Worldwide and printed catalog of works.

Publishing Policy

Creative material and case summary of Finalists and Winners Effie Awards Ukraine becomes the property of the Effie Awards Ukraine and not will be returned. All entries could be published, reproduced and displayed for educational and promotional purposes. Creative materials submitted to the Effie Awards included 4-minute video reel and 90 word public summary of participant’s case. By entering work in the competition, the Effie Award automatically granted the right to make copies, reproduce and display the creative material& case summary for education and publicity purpose such as but not limited to the Effie Awards Journal, website, press releases, newsletters, conferences and Awards Gala.

Publishing Permission

In additional to the above, the Effie Awards offers entrants the opportunity to have their written case on the Effie website and/or other publications as approved by the Effie Awards. We respect that entries may have confidential information. Please indicate in the box below whether or not publishing permission is granted for the written entry.

 «Yes». If you choose “Yes”, you agree that the written entry form may also published, reproduced and displayed for educational and promotional purposes in Ukraine and also abroad.

  «Yes – edited version». If you choose “Yes – edited version”, you agree that the  edited version of written entry form may also published, reproduced and displayed for educational and promotional purposes in Ukraine and also abroad.

 «No, but can publish after three years». If you choose “No, but can publish after three years”, Effie Awards  will not publish written entry form for at minimum a three year period from entry. However, as stated above, Effie Award still have the option to  published, reproduced and displayed for educational and promotional purposes in Ukraine and also abroad.

 No, cannot publish ever.  If you do not wish to have your written case published after three years, select the choice "no, cannot publish ever". If you select this option, we will not publish your written entry form. However, as stated above, we will still have the option to publish, reproduce and display the public summary and the creative material, including the 4-minute video that you submitted.

Competition Rules

By signing below, you indicate that you agree to the competition rules, which are:

  1. Any material submitted in the course of entering the awards becomes the property of the Effie Awards and will not be returned.
  2. You agree to the publishing policy stated above.
  3. You represent and warrant that the Works submitted are original work by you and accurate and will not infringe upon the personal or proprietary rights of or give rise to any claim by any third party, including but not limited to claims based on copyright, patent, defamation, physical injury, or invasion of privacy or publicity. In addition, if any complaint or claim relating to any of the Works is made by any third party at any time, whether a formal legal complaint or otherwise, you will fully cooperate with the Effie Awards in responding to and defending against such complaint or claim, and you will hold the Effie Awards harmless from and against any such complaint or claim.

    Where required by law or contract, you will obtain releases, from all persons depicted in any of the Works. You may not agree to any restrictions, limitations or right to review requested or imposed by any persons, including models, owners of property pictured in the Works, or others. You will immediately advise the Effie Awards of any such request or attempted imposition. If you make any subsequent or other use of any of the Works, you are solely responsible for obtaining any necessary releases from any models, persons or owners of property pictured in the Works, and you will hold the Effie Awards harmless from and against any claims by any person arising form any such subsequent or other use.
  4. You certify that the information submitted for this case is a true and accurate portrayal of the case's objectives and results and that the case ran between September 1, 2007 and August 31, 2008. Entry constitutes permission to be included in a data set for Effie Awards research purposes that do not breach confidentiality.
  5. The credits you submit are considered final and will not be changed for any reason, including if agency and/or client experience a name change and/or merger after the time of entry. The information you submit in the online credits section may be published and/or appear on recognition certificates.
  6. You have credited all partners who contributed to the work that is being presented in the entry.
  7. The decisions of the Effie Awards in all matters relating to the competition shall be final and binding.
Definition of winners of awards

Each project passes two stages of estimation. During the first round pf competition of jury stage entry of campaigns without using creative to other in their category and without using creative materials. During the second round finalists are staged by their comparison with other finalist in this category using both the entry demand and creative materials.
Judges staged each of 4 elements of the entry. The general ball for the firs 3 elements the marketing problem, strategy, a creative) makes 70% of a final estimation. The proof of results makes 30% of a final estimation.
On the basis of jury reports the average estimation of campaign is formed. Thus the maximum and minimum estimations are considered.

If your campaign is the different countries (even if it is not spent to the USA) it also can take part in Effie Global Award.
